Boatride

There was a bit wind before we went to bed, but not an issue compared to the night before. We both slept pretty good, the swim/shower in the lake helped with that i guess :)

We did a descent of about 2.5 km to the boat pickup point. After about 30 minutes the boat arrived and it was a short drive to Vuonatjviken.

We hoped for lunch at the Vuonatjviken cabins, but the only option were frozen pizza… we still went for it.

It tasted good, just some warm and „real“ food after all the crackers and camping food. We even got some fresh salad with it, that was amazing!

During the break we charged phones & powerbanks up and also made some plans for the next days. As it’s about 62km from Vuonatjviken to Kvikkjokk, we planned to be there on Thursday. We booked 3 rooms at the STF Mountain Station and are looking forward to a real bed :)

After booking the rooms, we made our ways, target for today was the fjäll to get out of the forest and the mosquitoes.

First stretch was through pretty dense forest, so not too much view.

Of course there were also some bridges involved into the hiking ;-)

We also saw some frogs and we were even able to catch one on a picture. Sometimes they are a bit crazy and jump right into your path…

After around 10 km the forest lighted up and we were able to spot the fjäll. Looked still far away from down there.

As we came higher up, there were amazing views back. Unfortunately really hard to capture with a picture, but we tried.

We went all the way up to the fjäll and then down on the other, it was sunny but also quite windy. And there was no place to hide from the wind, so we pushed more or less through the whole stretch.

This is currently by far the most remote and least walked part of the Kungsleden. So there are missing or broken bridges and a lot of branches that are in the path.

We went down to a lower part of the fjäll but unfortunately it was still windy. It wasn’t easy to find a tent spot that’s flat, not muddy and protected from the wind. In the end we found one, but the wind got worse after we setup the tent… so lets see how the night goes ;-)
