Train, Plane, Hotel and Plane again

Getting to the start of the Kungsleden is quite a journey, at least when you live in switzerland or Rheinfelden to be more specific. There are various options, but we decided to go by plane in the end. As there are no direct (or even combined) flights available, we had to split the journey. So the first flight was Zurich -> Stockholm and as there was no flight which allowed us to capture the next flight to Hemavan on the same day, we went for a Hotel in Stockholm. We stayed in the Comfort Hotel Arlanda Airport, which we definitely can recommend (1090 SEK for two people). This was on the 20th of June, today (21st :)) we now left to take another plane from Stockholm to Hemavan (with a stop in Kramfors). We have the pleasure to fly with a small Fokker 50 and with 12 other travelers 😁. The flight is done by Amapola (amapola.nu) and we paid 1790 SEK for two people. In Hemavan we will get food and some last small items (gas for the stove, „insect protection?“) and then head to the trail.

Carry-On luggage

We decided to go with carry-on luggage only, our ULA Circuit packs can be compressed enough to allow for that. But we knew that we have the risk with airport security of not allowing us to take some of stuff with us (Tent poles/stakes, mini Victorinox Knife, trekking poles). But on both airports we had no issue at all, but your mileage may vary 😅

Die Reise von Zürich nach Stockholm war nichts besonderes, üblicher Flugstress 😄 Das Hotel am Flughafen war wirklich super, mit Pizza auf dem Zimmer fieberten wir noch mit der Schweiz beim EM Spiel mit. Heute dann wieder zurück auf den Flughafen. Am Gate warteten wir auf unser Boarding mit einigen, wenigen andern Passagieren. Mit dem Bus zum Flugzeug und da wusste ich dass unser Abenteuer so langsam beginnt 😋 Ein kleines Propellerflugzeug, Platz für max. 56 Passagieren. Wir waren 15 😄 gesprochen wurde alles auf Swedisch, für uns zwei extra noch auf Englisch 😂 es war teilweise ein holpriger Flug nach Hemavan. Doch gleich bei der Ankunft war ich faziniert von dem Kleinstadt Feeling und der rustikalen Art hier oben im Norden. Die vorfreude auf den Kungsleden wurde gleich noch grösser.
