Day 29: Grand Teton
Last moments of Yellowstone
After a cold night, we had a beautiful morning, sun was out and started to heat up the tent. I cooked a camping food breakfast and sat in the sun and just enjoyed the moment. What a start!
Then it was time to pack up the tent and head south to the next national park, Grand Teton. On the way out we did a quick stop at the Lewis Falls, but we got greeted by the countless mosquito’s and fled into the car.
Then on the way out we managed to get a picture of the Yellowstone sign, as a goodbye.
Grand Teton
Not long after the Yellowstone sign, we also found the Grand Teton sign.
Today was overall a day of a lot of stops, we took many chances to get some views of the park and enjoy the scenery. One of the first stops was at the north end of the Jackson Lake where we caught a nice picture and were a bit afraid about the weather further south.
Then as we drove further, the Teton range came more and more in view, it’s amazing how they raise into the sky.
We did some more quick stops to enjoy the nature, but decided that the target for today is Teton Village from where a Sky Tram runs and there are multiple hiking options. First we took the Tram up to Rendezvous Mountain which is 3187m, so we got a great view of the surrounding area.
Then we hiked the Cirque Trail which led to the Bridger Gondola which took us then back down to Teton Village. The hike itself was only 3 km, but was beautiful and felt perfect for today.
Even though Teton Village is more of a winter sport destination, the hiking trail was really nice and there were a lot of biking tracks!
Then it was time to head to Jackson Hole were we stay for the next 2 nights, we first did laundry. After that we checked in at the Hotel and before it was dinner time we went to the REI CO-OP which is a big hiking/outdoor store chain here in the States. After that it was Burger time and i finally found a Blue Moon :)
Now we are back at the Hotel and planning which hike we wanna do tomorrow.
