Day 3: Vancouver to Whistler

Real sleep

Finally some real sleep! We both managed to sleep until 07:00 from around 22:00, nice 9 hours and we directly beat the possible jet lag! :)

First things first, we get some coffee and breakfast from Starbucks. I will probably never understand how to order a simple coffee there, but whatever…

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

It’s quite early in the day, we decide to check out some attractions on the way to Whistler (where we will stay 3 nights). There are a lot of options, in the end we decided to go for the Capilano Suspension Park, which isn’t cheap (~60$ CAD per Person) but seems like fun.

As the name suggest, there is a large suspension bridge, which divides the park into two sides. One contains the tree top walk and the other a cliff walk.

It was a bit shaky, but even with my fear of heights doable…

The tree top walk was interesting as it provided a different view on a forest, as you where around ~ 10 meters above the ground. But it was rather short and already getting crowded.

On the other side was the cliff walk, which was nearly empty and gave some nice views of the surrounding forest.

Then we got hungry at around 11:00 (maybe a bit jet/hunger lag? :)), so we got us some burgers in the park, which made a nice early lunch.

Walmart

Going to a Walmart is always an experience for itself. It’s always crazy to see the size of the store and the endless selection of products. Also the size of the products itself is just on another level…

How about 454g peeled garlic?

We got some water and basic supplies, but no garlic (for now…)

Sea to Sky Highway

After the Walmart, the drive on the sea to sky highway starts, we make some short stops at different locations (Horseshoe bay, Shannon Falls) to get a quick break from driving.

Whistler

And then we already made it to whistler. At the Hotel the betting started, did the luggage already made it? (Answer -> No) But thankfully we packed “smart” and have everything really important in our carry on and therefore available. Only issue is that we are missing some of the hiking stuff and are not sure how big of a hike we can/want do tomorrow…

For dinner we had some nice pasta in the old spaghetti factory. The first two travel days took a bit their toll, but now it starts to feel like holidays :)
