Day 31: 4th of July

4th of July

After a quick run in the morning (where my GPS went nuts) it was time for the 4th of July parade in Jackson. As the parade was early (10:00), we decided to watch it there, even though Jackson is just a small city and the parade is rather small as well.

The front of the Parade was led by the Police and some Army Veterans, which carried Various Flags (USA, Wyoming, and others). Then there were various local companies, departments and political parties that drove by and threw some candy.

Was interesting to see the states on one of their most sacred holidays, a lot of people wished us a “happy 4th” :)

Salt Lake City

After the Parade we started the drive to Salt Lake City, here we could clearly see how the landscape changed. From the forests and green fields in Jackson to the near desert in Salt Lake. The weather also became hotter and hotter and in Salt Lake we had a nice 36 degrees.

For dinner we went to Zest, a Vegan Restaurant which we found by coincidence. We first planned for a Thai which was listed as open on Google but was closed (probably because of the holiday), so another hit for “Thai Restaurant” on google was Zest, which we then realized was full Vegan. To be honest, it was the best dinner so far! I had a yellow curry with black rice and some vegetables.

After that we walked the short distance back to the Hotel, we couldn’t find a official Firework :-/
