Day 63: Maui - Surfin USA

Running

Today was running time again, we started from the Guesthouse and went again to the Hotel beach, Nicole turned around and I continued until the end of the beach and then tried to find another way back. This led me to run over a golf course, then along the highway but I made it back in one piece, so that is something. But the heat and humidity were pretty brutal already, next time we tried to start before 08:00.

Surfing

Then it was the first time on a surfboard for both of us, we booked our beginner lesson with Maui Surfer Girls. After some dry runs, we were approved for the real deal. Out into the water, on the board and then paddling. Even though it’s called surfing, paddling would be the better name for the sport 😂

But it was a ton of fun and our teacher Natalie did a great job! After almost two hours our starter session was over and we got a sneak peak of the pictures that were from us. Unfortunately we will only get the tomorrow, so no pictures right now :-|

Snorkeling

There are so many beautiful beaches on Maui, so we decided to do another snorkel tour. Our decision fell on the Honolua Bay, which is famous for snorkeling and as we arrived there were currently three boats full of people that enjoyed the underwater world.

They way to the beach led to an amazing rain forest, which could be directly from a movie.

We did a nearly 30 minutes snorkel dive/swim? there and then moved on to the Nakalele Blowhole. It had similarities with the geysers we saw in Yellowstone.

On the way back to Lahaina, we spotted some really impressive Villas on top of the cliffs, would be interesting for how much they go…

Just crazy :)

In the evening we used the Kitchen again and just did some random cooking which turned out pretty good. Pineapple, Mango, Tomatoes with some Broccoli and Wild Rice.
