Day 64: Maui - Road to Hana
Surfing, the pictures
We didn’t went surfing again, but got the pictures, so I want to share them with you! :)
Like this one, you can see that it was exhausting, especially all the paddling.
This shows the pro style, you don’t need a wave to surf! Funny how perception and reality can sometimes differ, for me it felt like we rode the biggest waves ever ;-)
Road to Hana
Our first thing we did in the morning was securing our dive for tomorrow, so we went in person to the Extended Horizon Dive store and got the 07:30 slot tomorrow :)
Then it was time to do the Road to Hana, it’s one of the most famous activities on Maui. Summarized it’s a narrow road that goes all the way to Hana, which is at the eastern edge of the Island. Along the way are multiple waterfalls which can be visited and some beaches.
At the beginning it was really crowded and the parking at the scenic points along the road were more than full. So we skipped a lot of stuff and the ones we saw were nice but nothing too special… we probably just missed the really good ones ;-)
The views of the coast on the other hand were really cool and the driving was fun but exhausting, as it required full concentration all the time.
A lot of people turn around at Hana, because the road gets rougher and even more narrow after Hana on the southern stretch. But this was the part that we liked the most! There was even a stretch of unpaved road, where our car could really shine.
Evening
The road took it’s toll, at least from me and I was happy to be back and enjoy a beer. We spent a bit time just relaxing before we went for Dinner at the Honu Oceanside. It was probably the best food we had so far and also the best location!
We shared Burrata & Tomatoes to start.
I then had Fish & Chips and Nicole Pizza.
