Day 75: Kaua'i

Kaua’i

The flight today was at the same time, so we had to get up early again. Our cab was leaving at 06:00 from the Kona Seaside Hotel, where we stayed for the night. During packing I realized that I left my puffy jacket at the restaurant yesterday in the evening… I took it with me packed up and put it on the ground, because the table was really small. The Restaurant was closed today, so I will try to get in touch with them tomorrow and hope that the jacket was found :-/

At the airport everything was smooth again, the flight was a bit delayed and we arrived around 09:30 in Lihue.

We weren’t first sure if we could still pickup our rental car, as we were nearly 24 hours late. I had called in the morning and they told us that it shouldn’t be a problem. But you never know. But thankfully Alamo showed more goodwill than Hertz and the pickup wasn’t an Issue.

Our first stop was then Fern Grotto Inn, where we stay for the next 6 nights. Beautiful place, direct next to a river.

As we planned to cook in the evening, we went to the Safeway and got us some groceries for the next days. Another price shock :)

Then it was time for some exploring, we decided to go to the southern part and first went to the Warehouse 3540. It’s a remodeled old warehouse (who would have guessed?), which houses some stores and food trucks. Nothing too big, but was still cool to see.

A quick stop at the Spouting Horn was our next thing on the list, it’s a blowhole and I did a single shot and managed to capture the eruption pretty perfect.

Now we were heated up and looked forward to a cool down, so we went to the Poipu Beach which was close to the Spouting Horn. Did some snorkeling there, the reef wasn’t too impressive, but there were a lot of fishes and we even saw a moraine. After we dried off and sat under our umbrella, we even saw a monk seal on the small island in front of Poipu Beach.

In the evening it was then cooking time, another Rice, Pineapple & Mango mix.

Now it’s close to bed time for us, but our last task for the day is to book our helicopter flight here in Kaua’i ❤️.
