Day 11: Goodbye Guatapé

Back to Bogota

Back in Bogota, this was the motto of the day! As mentioned yesterday, we have a two-day journey ahead of us to reach the Galapagos. This comes from the Galapagos being only reachable by flight from Guayaquil and Quito. So we first have to go to one of these destinations. But they are also only reachable from a few destinations, not Medellín.

So this meant that we first had to go to Bogota, from where we could go to Guayaquil, and then we could finally reach the Galapagos. So we split this into a two-day journey because we first thought about taking the bus from Medellín to Bogota, but in the end, we decided that a 30-minute flight wins over a 9-hour Bus.

But let’s start at the beginning. We went for a run in the morning. I did the whole loop to Piedra del Peñol through the rolling hills and then back to Guatapé along the main street (the hike we did two days ago). After that, hunger started to kick in, so again, we went to Montano.

Then, it was time to say goodbye to the rest of the group and also to Guatapé. We took an Airport Shuttle at 14:00, which dropped us off around 15:30 at the Medellín Airport. So we were pretty early for our 17:57 flight (what a time?!), as security took only about 5 minutes.

The flight was then really quick. We jumped onto the Airport Hotel shuttle and ate some dinner at the Hotel. We have to get up early tomorrow, as our flight goes 07:15 to Guayaquil.
