Day 21: Galapagos - On the Cruise

Wow, these days on the cruise are exhausting! But absolutely in a good way 😎 But there is so much going on from 07:00 until 20:00, and after that, the sorting through all the pictures and movies, so it’s always after 21:00 when I start writing the blog.

We had anchored for the night, so it was quieter, and I slept well. After Breakfast at 07:00, we had our first excursion again at 08:00. This time, we went to Espinosa Point on Isla Fernandina. This spot’s main feature is the endless number of iguanas! They are everywhere. It’s assumed this is because they have the perfect living conditions there. There is plenty of food thanks to the currents, sandy beach to lay the eggs, and lava rocks to hide and heat up.

The snorkeling was then again from the Dinghy and not from the beach. There we saw a lot of Sea Turtles and some Iguanas in the water, which was fantastic!

Then, there was a break for lunch and a short break before snorkeling time again. Now at Punta Vicente Roca, again from the Dinghy. Here, we saw Sea Lions in the water, which had quite some fun with us and swam around us. This was amazing!

After the snorkeling, we did a Dinghy ride around the area. Here, we saw Blue-footed boobies, some other Birds, and also Galapagos Seals.

Shortly after we were back on board, we approached the equator, and there was a small celebration for crossing it. After the celebration, we spotted some whales & dolphins in the water. Here you always think: “That’s it, it can’t get better”, and then the Galapagos decide to top it again!

Then dinner, and after dinner, it was star gazing time again. Today no clouds, so it was terrific again 😍
