First we thought about staying two nights at Song Kul Lake, but as the weather wasn’t too great, a new plan was made and we already continued our drive today. Next goal is Naryn, where we pick up the border zone permit and then head more into the south. For the way out from the lake we picked the route via the 33 Parrots Pass. We obviously hoped for 33 parrots, but there were no parrots and also not 33 turns or something like that. Apparently the name comes from some of the rocks that can look like parrots…

Anyway, the road was overall not so great, a lot of small potholes which can’t be dodged, so the car is shaken all the time. At the bottom of the 33 Parrots Pass there was a small hike to a waterfall we did. Always good to get in some exercise. After we came back from the hike, we saw a trio changing a tire at a rental car. They just finished getting the deflated tire off the car and we offered to repair it, so they don’t have to put on the spare tire, which wasn’t a real one. They were super happy and in no time we did the second tire repair on the trip, we are starting to become experts at this.

Then we continued a bit further on, crossed another pass, this time without funny name and made it to a nice camp spot above a river. Here we will stay for one night, so tomorrow is Naryn and Permit time.
