Alright, last push to the border. Thankfully today it was quite human so we didn’t get up too early. Left from the place in the Steppe after Atyrau and made a quick stop at Kurmangazy. There we washed the car to make a good impression at the border. Then we reached our first spot for the night. After 2 hours there, we got a visit from two guys from the Military or more precise the Border Patrol. They told us we can’t stay there and called their boss. After a couple minutes the boss arrived and he told us also we can’t stay, we have to leave but also need to pay… It had a clear vibe of “getting some money from the tourists”. We played along, told them we have no money and need an ATM. In the end they turned super friendly and told us “the boss will not fine you today”. Strange experience, but yeah, in the end we were lucky I guess. Anyhow, we moved a little bit back, this time at a parking lot right next to road, together with a couple of trucks. Tomorrow early we will cross into russia, so offline for a couple days.
