Kazakhstan

Not much happened in Kazakhstan, we got up at 05:00 and were at the border at around 06:00. At the Kazakh side, everything was super fast and then we were already in no man’s land.

Russia

We first had to wait around 30 minutes before the gate, then it was quick passport control. Both fast and friendly, but then we were told to wait in the car. And after over an hour, finally another officer came and did a quick phone check and then we were told to go. The first couple of kilometers were quite a bad road, but after Astrakhan the road towards Elista got better. Time passed by and we finally reached Elista, a place I was keen for and it did deliver. A really impressive Buddhist temple and there was a ceremony going on, which we unfortunately didn’t understand in detail. For dinner we then had pizza at a random restaurant, without knowing the Google score… can you imagine?! But this is the drawback of no internet.
