Russia

We still had to drive a bit before we first passed Vladikavkaz, where we filled up gas and tried to spend some more rubles and then finally reached the border. It started quite well, no car in front of us, no waiting at all! But we were sent to the truck line, so we still had to wait a bit before it was our turn. Then quick passport control, quick check of the car and we were on our way.

After the Russian border, in no man’s land, we decided to wait for Fabi. Soon after we stopped a car arrived and the guy told us we have to go back, because some document was missing. It was super strange, but we started to slowly drive back. Then the guard from the other side noticed we were driving backwards and told us we can’t do that. I tried to explain the situation, but the language barrier made it super hard. After a couple of minutes another car stopped and the next guy told me I have to go back because of some document… I assumed it was the Import Document, which they didn’t ask for so we still had it. I jumped into this random dude’s car and he drove the short stretch back, as a ghost driver… it was super strange. But the guy from the border was happy to see me and get the document. He took pictures of me, the document and then the guy brought me back to the car and also had to take a picture of me in front of the car… whatever :)

By the time this whole episode was over, Fabi arrived. First we thought he was held “hostage” until they get the document from me. But he had to do an interview and phone check. So his procedure just took quite long.

Georgia

In Stepantsminda we had late lunch and brought some dirty clothes to the laundry. Now we are standing at the pools spot, where we had a dip in the cold water. With 3 degree air temperature, super refreshing experience.
