Because we stayed in a valley, we had no sun that warmed the camper up in the morning. Still we got up early and had breakfast. The plan for the day was to drive toward the Russian border, we found a nice valley a couple of kms before Stepantsminda (which is the last town before the border). So the plan was clear and off we went.

After we reached the main road towards Stepantsminda, traffic started to get chaotic. A lot of trucks and also tour buses. There were stops along the road where you could buy all the classic tourist stuff, so obviously we had to stop as well and have a look :)

The road turned worse and worse, Google projected 60 minutes for 20 kilometers. First I assumed Google was wrong, but it turned out to be correct… It just took forever to dodge all the potholes, creep behind the large and slow trucks and then the occasional traffic light to stop the whole thing. But I guess this is part of the journey and time went past quite fast.

After we turned into Truso Valley, the road became gravel and even worse. And there where multiple tracks, so it was also a challenge to pick the right one. But we found an amazing spot directly at a small river.

First mission was to hike a bit into the Truso Valley, after the first bend we reached the main parking and were impressed that there were quite some people (let’s say 10 cars). Then it got narrower and more adventurous.

An hour later we decided to turn around, it was slowly getting late and there were some rain drops. Back at Sprinty it was chore time, we cleaned him and after cooking we tried to repair one of the windows. Part of it came loose and is now professionally held together by duct tape.
