Our first real goal in Kazakhstan is the Mangystau region, famous for its rock formations that have some similarity with the famous parks in the USA.
But to reach them is not so easy. Depending on the route, you need to cover up to 1000 km without a gas station. As we are not fully sure which route we want to do, we bought some additional diesel canisters today, bringing us to 135 liters total or over 1000 km of distance. So we should have all options open. This was done in Atyrau, because the towns that follow now are smaller. Diesel quality will also decrease from here, for which we bought an additive. We also got one gifted from a Swiss couple.
Our next stop, before we start this 1000 km no fuel stretch, will be Beyneu. This is the goal for tomorrow, but today we made it quite close. Yesterday on the parking spot where we stayed, we met 3 other Swiss couples and now we stay with them in the steppe.
