After we woke up and ate breakfast, some Tajik guys that came by car invited us for a second breakfast. Sheep liver and vodka, to each their own. The liver wasn’t bad, but on the vodka we both had to pass. Thankfully Fabi, who we met yesterday, jumped in and had two vodkas to start the day.
Then we met another overlander, who came down from the seventh lake. He told us that the way is doable, even for our cars. So far we weren’t sure how feasible it is, but after his encouragement, the plan was made to give it a try.
A little bit later we started the 15 km drive, which took us over one and a half hours. The gravel road was decent, but always narrow and sometimes quite steep. There was one part where it was narrow, on the left side rock rising up and on the right a steep cliff towards a lake. Besides that slightly sketchy part, we had 2 or 3 steep sections where we were thankful for our AWD.
In the end we made it to the beginning of the seventh lake, which is the end of the road. Just as we arrived, rain started to fall. But we still decided to go for a hike, together with Juerg and Ulla, who arrived yesterday and brought Fabi with them (that’s how we met him). The hike along the lake was amazing, but the weather not so much. The rain got stronger and after 2 km we decided to head back.
The evening was then spent with celebrating Fabis Birthday, Ulla made fresh Bolognese and we cooked some Spaghetti and had a fiesta.
