Tajikistan

A day where everything turns out a bit different. We got up early to leave the last lake and avoid any oncoming traffic, because parts of the road are just single lane and crossing wouldn’t be fun. Shortly after 08:00 we left and started the drive back. As we reached the beginning of the 3rd lake and end of the 2nd lake, we saw multiple other cars at the spot where we spent the first night. And as we heard yesterday that apparently the road further down was washed away because of the rain, we had a bad feeling. So we stopped and talked to the people and it turned out that the road was still impassable and we had to wait.

In the next hours we heard everything, from “it will take 1-2 days” to “minimum one week”. It was quite wild, but we just relaxed, because we couldn’t change it anyway. The day was easy, we didn’t do much. Chilling at the lake, chatting with the other folk around. Just as we started with dinner, the other Swiss couple arrived. They wrote us that they will try to reach the lakes and apparently the road was already repaired and passable. Not perfect, but good enough so they could make it up.

We first thought that maybe we should go down directly, because tomorrow they might still do some more work on the road and it will be blocked. But in the end we decided against it, we will just chill today and give it a try tomorrow. Let’s hope luck will be on our side.
