Tajikistan

Today is the day, we leave Tajikistan. With a heavy heart, it’s time to move on. After nearly a month in the country, we were really surprised by how lovely the people are and how beautiful nature is. You have to see it for yourself to really believe it.

We had a lazy morning and then did a stop at Karakul City, which is another small town. There was a water pump, so we filled up water. Then started the drive towards the border, the first stretch was solid tarmac but on the last couple kilometers it was washboard, how we hate it!

The border was then super relaxed, first we visited the customs agent who wrote our information into a book (no joke) and then we had the border control itself where our passport was scanned. Nothing special and it took just a couple of minutes.

Then we were in no man’s land and not “checked into” any country. The road got really bad here, apparently because nobody really cares for it. This is not entirely true, after a couple of kilometers we reached a first military checkpoint of Kyrgyzstan. They looked at our passports and then did a quick inspection of the van. After that we were good to go. We continued a bit and have our spot for the night now in the no man’s land itself, that’s a first for sure.

Tomorrow is then the border crossing into Kyrgyzstan, which should be quite easy, let’s hope this turns out to be true.
